Now through the end of April, come into the Martin County Library and view the GEM Creative Youth Exhibit! Our display case is full of interesting art projects created by Martin County Youth. Project GEM (Growth, Experience and Motivation) is a nonprofit outreach educational program created to reach youth with special needs. The program draws upon the creative talent of youth to complete body, mind and soul growth. One component of GEM is the CAT (Creative After Thoughts) Art Class. This is a free class available to special needs youth ages 9 to 15. Hands on art projects that focus on cultural arts and appreciation for arts are vital parts of CAT. Students in the Martin County CAT class are responsible for all of the art projects in the library’s display case this month. The CAT class meets at the Red Rock Center and is a great opportunity for youth to express themselves creatively. Have questions or want to find out more about Project GEM? Email gem7773@mchsi.com.
